On Wednesday, it was revealed that former NBA champion Glen ‘Big Baby’ Davis and ex-NBA player Will Bynum were found guilty of conspiracy charges in the NBA healthcare fraud scheme, which implicated over 20 individuals. Both could potentially face up to 20 years behind bars.
This case was made public in 2021 when Bynum and Davis were named alongside more than a dozen other former NBA players who were part of a healthcare fraud scheme estimated to be over $5 million. Fraudulent insurance claims were curated and submitted to reimburse players for dental and medical visits that never occurred.
The ring leader, Terrence Williams, has already been sentenced to 10 years in prison. Former players Keyon Dooling and Alan Anderson were also sentenced in the scheme to 30 months and 24 months in prison, respectively. They were involved in recruiting other former NBA players to defraud the plan by submitting false invoices through medical officials.
According to Bloomberg, while Davis and Bynum’s sentencing won’t be as severe, they still face the possibility of up to 20 years in prison.
Most recently, Davis has made guest appearances in 50 Cent’s series, Power: Force. The show follows Joseph Sikora’s journey as Tommy in Chicago. Davis plays the role of King Kilo. Kilo’s appearance in the upcoming season is in question and he actually plays a pivotal role within the show’s storyline.
