Astros’ Ronel Blanco tosses first no-hitter of the season

Ronel Blanco of the Houston Astros threw the first no-hitter of the 2024 season on Monday night, striking out seven batters in a 10-0 victory over the Toronto Blue Jays.

Blanco allowed just two base-runners in the sparkling outing, issuing a pair of walks to George Springer.

It was Houston’s sixth no-hitter thrown since the 2019 season. No other team has more than two in that span.

it is also the earliest no-hitter in a season ever (by calendar date). The previous record was April 4 by Hideo Nomo of the Red Sox in 2001.

This is a developing story.
